iPhone 6 RFID Fixes for AretePop device

Please note that the AretePop device is no longer be supported by it's manufacturer and will be phased out of future versions of the Croptracker mobile application.

Problem

The iPhone 6 is unable to detect or use the AretePop RFID device

Solution #1 - Fix Microphone Privacy Settings

If you'd had an older version of Croptracker installed during an more recent iOS update it's possible that the Microphone permissions have not been properly configured.

Since the device connects through the Microphone plug it is essential that Croptracker have access to the Microphone port to communicate with the AretePop.

Fix Microphone Privacy Settings
Steps to Fix:
  1. Find and open the "Settings" Application on your iPhone:
  2. From the Settings App navigate to "Privacy":
  3. Under Privacy locate the "Microphone" settings:
  4. Ensure that the Microphone is enabled for the Croptracker application:

 

Solution #2 - Volume too low

To send signals to the AretePop the iPhone uses the headphone jack to send the information as audio.   Unless the volume is turned up to a sufficient level the AretePop will not be able to communicate with the phone.

Steps to Fix:
  1. Make sure the AretePop device is connected to the iPhone and has been recently charged
  2. In the Croptracker app open a harvest event and navigate to the RFID "Scan Tags" screen.


  3. From the "Scan Tags" screen make sure "Scan" is turned on and press the VOLUME UP button on the side of the iPhone until Volume is at full:
