How to link RFID tags with your device

This article describes how to link RFID tags with your mobile device so that Croptracker will know when you're in range of a tagbot.

The Tagbot Notifications screen under the Warehouse Management section of the app will display Pallet RFID Tags read by a tagbot while your device is in range. For your device to be considered "in range" of a tagbot it must have a linked RFID tag physically near or attached to it. When a pallet RFID tag and your device's RFID tag(s) are read by a tagbot within 2 seconds of each other, your device will be considered "in range" of that tagbot and will display information about the pallet. This article describes how to link an RFID tag to your device:

  1. Log in to the Croptracker app and select Warehouse Management from the dashboard.
  2. Select the Device ↔ RFID Tag Linker option on the screen that appears.
  3. Ensure your device's bluetooth is enabled, then drop down the menu in the top right corner and select Connect to RFID Reader.
  4. If this is your first time connecting to the RFID knuckle reader, you'll be prompted to pair with it. The app will remember for selection for next time.
  5. Once your device is paired with the RFID knuckle reader, point it at an RFID tag and press the yellow button on the top of the reader. The knuckle reader should beep, and any RFID tags it read will appear in the list on your device.
    1. Note: The knuckle reader is fairly sensitive and may read multiple nearby tags. If you're trying to target a specific tag, you may have to move to a more isolated area.
  6. Wait a few seconds for the list to refresh against the server. Known tags will be displayed with their status, and unknown tags will be identified as "Unknown/Uninitialized".
  7. To initialize a tag:
    1. Long tap on the list item
    2. Enter an identifier label (e.g. Tablet_3 or Forklift_1) then tap Ok.
    3. Wait for the list to refresh and your tag will be updated in the list with its new label and a status of Available.
  8. Check off each tag that you want to link with the device, then tap Link Selected Tags.
  9. The tags you checked off are now linked with your specific device in Croptracker.
  10. To unlink a tag, long tap on the linked tag and tap Unlink in the confirmation dialog.
