This page contains instructions for how to use the Harvest Quality Vision module through out the growing season to determine fruitlet growth rates. This process can be useful in making prediction on harvest dates, growth rates compared over seasons and help determine the peak size before harvest. *Note: This is a destructive testing process that requires sample fruit be removed from the tree and scanned.

Step-by-step Instructions

Select fruitlet/growing fruit sample from the growing area or variety you wish to sample

Place fruit on a flat surface to scan. For best results, use outdoors in natural light and avoid reflective surfaces.

Note:- optimal fruit selection and sample size can vary depending on crop type, size of the growing area, growing method and historical practices. HQV can support any sampling method and size and Croptracker can help determine what will be best for you.

Login to Croptracker’s mobile application and set up an HQV event. Be sure to select the growing area/variety that corresponds to your sample. You can optionally use the comments or event categories to note the growth stage or sample number when the scan was taken.

Scan sample fruit. Several sample sets can be scanned against one event to ensure a larger sample size as needed.

When finished scanning, ensure the device is connected to wifi or a cellular network so the scans can upload. Results will return to your device when they have finished processing.

The size over time chart displays the average size of the fruit in the block every time there was a scan taken. The x-axis is the event date. The y-axis is the average size in mm.

The main blue line is the average size of the scans within the same block, within the same event, with each point being the HQV event date.

The shaded blue represents the size range of the fruit detected used to calculate the average.

To scroll further backward or forward, press and hold on the graph and slide.
