This document contains instructions for how to use the Harvest Quality Vision module through out the growing season to determine fruitlet growth rates.

You will need the Harvest Quality Vision module to access this feature.

Tip

This process can be useful in making prediction on for predicting harvest dates, comparing growth rates compared over between seasons, and help determine estimating the peak size before harvest.

Note

This is a destructive testing process that requires sample fruit be removed from the tree and scanned.

 📘 Instructions

1. Select fruitlet/growing Pick fruit sample from the growing area or variety you wish to sample.

2. Place fruit on a flat surface to scan. For best results, use scan outdoors in natural light and avoid reflective surfaces.

Note: Optimal fruit selection and sample size can vary depending on crop type, the size of the your growing area, your growing method and historical practices. HQV can support any sampling method and size and Croptracker can help determine what will be best for you-- reach out to the Croptracker team to find the best solution for your unique situation.

3. Set up a Harvest Quality Vision Event. Be sure to select the growing area/variety that corresponds to your sample. You can optionally use the comments or event categories to note the growth stage or sample the number of samples when the scan was taken.

4. Scan sample fruit. Several sample sets Multiple scans can be scanned against taken for one event – if you are attempting to ensure a larger sample size as neededscan a large amount of samples, simply split them up into smaller groups and scan them group by group.

5. When you’ve finished scanning, ensure make sure the device is connected to wifi or a cellular network so the scans can upload. Results will return to your device when they have finished processing.

The size over time 6. The ‘Size Over Timechart displays the average size of the fruit in the block every time there was a scan takenfor every day that an HQV event represents. The x-axis is the event date. The y-axis is the average size in mm.

The main blue line is shows the estimated average size of the fruit based on scans within from the same block, within the same event, with each point being the actual average size from a specific HQV event date.

The shaded blue area represents the size range of the fruit detected used to calculate the average.

To scroll further backward or forward, press and hold on the graph and slide.
