How to Enable Asset Tracking

This step-by-step guide describes how to turn on the Asset Tracking feature on iOS and Android devices.

This feature may have an impact on battery usage. The time interval between location updates can be extended in the Preferences menu. Longer intervals will reduce battery usage.

Step-by-step guide for iOS and Android

  1. After logging in to the Croptracker app, tap the Preferences option from your dashboard.
  2. Navigate to the Asset Tracking section.
  3. Tap the switch labeled Enable Asset Tracking.
    • On iOS devices you will be prompted to allow the Croptracker app to use Location Services in the background. On Android, this happens when you log in for the first time.
  4. Your device will now send location updates at every Time interval. This is 15 minutes by default.
  5. If the Minimum distance (in meters) has not been traveled since the last update, the location will not be reported. This is 0 meters by default.

The Minimum distance setting does not affect battery usage.

Asset Tracking will remain on while the app is running and you are logged in. If the app is closed or you are logged out, it will be turned off until you log in again.

If there is no internet connection, location updates will not be sent until the connection is restored and the Croptracker app is running.

If your device has not been connected for a few days, it may take a few minutes for all location updates to be sent. The most recent updates are sent first.
