How to use a Bluetooth barcode scanner with the mobile app
This article describes how to setup a generic Bluetooth barcode scanner such as the NETUM C750 for scanning tags into the Croptracker mobile app. A barcode scanner is a great alternative to using the device’s camera when going fast is a top priority.
Most Bluetooth barcode scanners will work with the Croptracker mobile app out of the box without any additional configuration. This is thanks to a feature sometimes called wedge mode or Bluetooth HID - where the scanner acts as a Bluetooth keyboard and “types” the barcode into the app. Follow the steps below to confirm this feature works with your Bluetooth scanner.
Instructions
Pair the Bluetooth scanner with your iOS or Android device.
This will vary depending on the exact scanner, but generally this will involve navigating to the Bluetooth settings and tapping the name of the scanner when it appears. Refer to your scanner's manual for specific instructions.
Try a test scan. Open an app like the “Notes” app, point the scanner at a barcode, and pull the trigger. You should see the barcode typed out, followed by an “enter” that puts the caret on a new line.
Try a scan in the Croptracker app. Features that support barcode scanners include:
Field Pack: Scan master tags
Harvest: Scan pre-printed harvest tags
Packing: Scan harvest tags
Receiving: Scan harvest or pallet tags
Shipping: Scan harvest or pallet tags
Storage: Scan harvest or pallet tags
